Baptism (Christening)
During a Christening you or your child will be baptized with water. This formal ceremony marks the start of a journey of faith and is a special day for family and friends.
Baptisms usually take place as part of Sunday morning services.
All are welcome to be baptised.
Infant Baptism
If you live in our parish you are entitled to have your child baptised at St John’s.
Parents/carers do not need to be baptised.
Godparents have to be baptised already and aged 16 or over. Anyone who is not baptised but would like to be involved may take part as a supporter of the candidate,
There is no charge for Baptism.
All enquires are to be made by e-mail to Father Michael Roper.
Adult Baptism
Adults can come for Baptism but this is almost always after a person has been worshipping with St John’s for a period of time.
The Bishop encourages all adult Baptism candidates to also be confirmed at the same time or soon after.
If you would like to talk about Baptism at St John’s, or book a date, please contact Father Michael Roper.
